When I received a call from my instructor about this essay-writing contest, the stake that was in my mind was the prizes and fame that I would be enjoying. I never expected the profound effect it would have on me. I was wonderfully energized to research on a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee until I have found this very brilliant person, who unexpectedly affected me so much that my vision of existence has changed. I was awed by this man who made a big difference on the surge of nature. He’s no other than Angel C. Alcala – a conservationist, scientist, an aquatic ecologist of natural world, and a hero in his own right.

Let me share to you the real essence of romance. But first, let me want to ask you: what does romance really mean? If I’m not mistaken, for you romance is something that involves heterosexual relationships. Just like what we see in romance movies, it radiates sentimentality and affection. Lovers celebrate their ardor in a lot of ways, such as calling each other pet names such as Honey or Dear, celebrating their anniversary in a unique way, or just simply holding each other’s hands while gazing at each others eyes.
