The Dipolog Medical Center College Foundation Inc. (DMCCFI) sends anew top school officials and faculty to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and recently renewed ties with the aforesaid leading educational institution in Hong Kong.

The AVP for Academic Affairs of DMCCFI Atty. Albert “Flint” T. Concha Jr. who led the group to Hong Kong said the trip is an annual activity of the school in its bid to intensify excellence especially in its academic suits.

“We are doing our best to look into all possibilities which could help us achieve our mission,” Atty. Concha said.

“The Hong Kong trip is aimed at increasing the awareness and knowledge of our faculty in international and global nursing practices and for them to be exposed to the latest technology in the medical field. Since CUHK is a pioneer in Evidence Based Nursing, it is an advantage for us to be oriented to this new and exciting field of nursing practice,” Atty. Concha added.

He disclosed that they were able to discuss with Dr. David Thompson and other professors of CUHK the possibilities of a Student and Faculty Exchange Program and the strengthening of Evidence Based Nursing Practice in DMC. These are both essential in accomplishing the mission of DMC in providing ZaNorte and other provinces and cities of Mindanao an excellent science institution especially in the field of nursing education.

It was also learned that it is an annual tradition of DMCCFI to send their senior faculty to Hong Kong in order that they learn new things in their field of expertise and also as an incentive for their loyalty, dedication, and hard work for their institution.

Moreover, the group made a side-trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, Victoria Peak, Shenzhen China and other tourist destinations.

This year’s group which was led by Atty. Flint Concha included the school’s Corporate Secretary Mrs. Filomena Concha, AVP for Administrative Affairs Engr. Richard Concha, Nursing Dean Consultant Henry Ogoc, Part-time Senior Faculty and Board Examination Reviewer Atty. Ivan Patrick A. Ang and the Principal of the Midwifery Department Ms. Ma. Theresa Iniego.

In 2004, DMCCFI sent to CUHK Dr. Grace Gurdiel and Mrs. Virginia Gemina, both then Assistant Deans of the Nursing Department. A new group will also be formed to compose next year’s team.
