Forty young basketball players recently graduated in the Basketball Clinic organized by Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Eddie Laure.
Laure, who plays forward for the Rain or Shine (ROS) Elasto Painters, held his clinic at the DMC College Foundation basketball court last July 25 and 26.
Aside from Laure, the pool of trainers include Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Zamboanga del Norte Coordinator Andot Silva, and Laure’s teammates during the Palarong Pambansa in his high school days such as Jojo Yu, Ramor Rabulan and Kikid Lopez.
The young participants were all given Voit basketballs and back-to-back ROS Elasto Painters’ jerseys.
“Next time, pag uwi ko, I will hold another basketball clinic. Balak ko talaga na magkaroon ng mas malaking event kaya lang, pagkaganun kailangan talagang may support from government officials,” Laure said.
The ROS forward added that he is even planning to hold a basketball tournament for basketball enthusiasts in Dipolog City. “Maganda rin sana kung mag organize tayo at magkaroon ng liga para may pagkakaabalahan ang mga kabataan at kasama ang kanilang mga magulang,” he said.
Laure also said that after his career as a player, he is planning to coach if the opportunity arises. He currently has one-year remaining in his ROS contract.
In parting, he had this to say, “Sa tanan nga mga taga Dipolog, salamat sa suporta at sa pagsubaybay sa larong basketbol. At sa mga batan-on nga magdudula, padayon lang gyud para malayo ta sa bisyo.”
